Since its inception in 1976, Theatre Direct has produced and toured over 85 productions reaching thousands of young people annually at home and across the country. Its productions have received numerous nominations and awards including 6 Dora Mavor Moor Awards, 10 Chalmers Canadian Play Awards and the Canada Council Theatre for Young Audiences Prize.In 2009, Theatre Direct opened its doors on its first permanent home in the Artscape Wychwood Barns, a newly developed historic site in mid-town Toronto. Within its fully equipped theatre and education studio, the company now offers a year-round program of performing arts and arts education programs for young people and their families, including a growing drama school.
